The Swingin' 88's celebrated their 10th year in the dance community on May 30, 2009 with a prom theme at the Brightridge Club in East Providence, RI. Friends old and new joined in the celebration as everyone danced to the 40's and 50's tunes of the "Shiny Lapel Trio" and the swingin' tunes of "DJ Shawneemac". Many donned their finest prom attire while others chose more leisure attire but a good time was had by all as they ate (pot luck of many delicious dishes), danced, and made new friends! The Swingin' 88's are a group of people that met 10 years ago while having fun dancing; formed for a common purpose: to keep "Swing" alive in southern New England and to have fun! They started with 8 members and now have 25+ members.

We host a monthly dance at the Brightridge Club in East Providence, RI usually on the last Saturday of the month. Please see our schedule of dances for the year. We also host fundraisers for local community groups. In the past 10 years, we have raised $41,713.70 for a variety of groups. Please visit us often for the latest news in "Swing" and list of dancing events!

"I brought a female friend to your dance last night, Sat 7/26th, for her 1st time at your dances. She was a little reluctant because she didn't know the crowd. She had a great time thanks to the friendly leaders. Quite a few men took the time to ask her to dance even though they didn't know her. She was impressed with how friendly everyone was. Not all venues have the reputation for being a 'friendly' dance but the Swingin' 88's now have that reputation with her. GREAT JOB, LEADERS!"
