Special Benefit Dance
on April 26, 2008
for the Caritas/Corkery House!
THANK YOU!
Whoever said the Rhode Island State motto is "If
it's free, it's for me" has obviously never been to one of our benefits
or met any of our fabulous dancers. Thanks to all of you and your generosity,
we raised $4,935.97 for Caritas! That puts
our benefit total for 8 years at $41,713.70!!!
Saturday was a spectacular evening. We had a full hall...It was wonderful
to see everyone dancing and having such a great time all while helping
to support the 88's and Caritas, Inc. The band was on FIRE!!! But, then,
aren't they always? They never disappoint. Big thanks to Roger
and the boys for their continued support of the 88's, live music
and swing. Swing Daddy and Shawneemac kept
you all on your toes during dinner and breaks - a huge thank you to them
as well for donating all of their time. We had a great spread of food
- thank you to Lenny and his kitchen crew
for all of their hard work preparing and cooking and to Vic,
Pat, Dennis & Colleen for serving everyone. A round of applause
to Andy & Toby who managed a HUGE lesson
with ease! And thanks to everyone else who helped to make the evening
a success. Congratulations to our big prize winners! The winners are as
follows: Annual 88's Pass - Vladi, Digital
Photo Frame - Robin Montvilo, Nintendo Wii
- Leo Doucet, Navigon GPS - Mark
Purcell. And congratulations to those of you who won door prizes
as well.
We are looking forward to another big celebration
next month (May 31) as we say "farewell" to
Swing Daddy and congratulate him on his retirement. Hope that you
all can be there. This will be a night to remember. Remember...start time
is 5pm and we're having a potluck dinner - bring a dish to share if you
wish. See details here. Keep an eye on the website
and weekly emails for any new developments.
On a side note...In case anyone missed it...Roger gave
a special shout out to Penny at the benefit
(thank you Roger), who is our web-coordinator. As many of you are aware,
we had a server snafu last month - very bad timing with the benefit approaching.
Penny worked double time to get our new site back up and running so you
could get all of your benefit details in time! A huge thank you to her
for managing our site and weekly emails that you all live by. (Make sure
you update your links to the new site - www.swingin88s.com).
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support
and for making our annual benefit such a huge success. You guys are the
best!
