Mid Summer Swingout Coming August 9!

Providence Swings, Swingin' 88's, Shoreline Swing and Vinnie's Jump & Jive are participating in a joint event to help bring local swing dance communities together through affordable workshops and an evening outside dance. It will be held from 10:00 am - Midnight at Camp Shepard in Greenville, RI. You will be able to dance to live music by the "Shiny Lapel Trio" AND to music by some great DJ's: Shawn McArdle, Team Cheetah, Rob Szarka, Joe & Sandy Perrone. Dance lessons will be provided by several instructors including Andy Weiser, Susan Carr & Rodney Seaforth, Tara Weinstein & Jason Arenburg, and Todd Schmenk & Beth Donahue. 50's Theme Dance on August 30!

MONDAY

CD Practice Session in Cambridge, MA!

Come practice (mostly lindy) at the Monday Night "Practice Session" at the First Church of Cambridge, 11 Garden St., Cambridge, MA from 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm. Cost will be $5. Parking is on street. Very casual. No shoes with tape. Bring clean-soled shoes. For more information, email fiveguysnamedmike@itsallswing.com.

CD WCS in Northampton!

There is a dance in Northampton every Monday at Dance Northampton, located just off exit 18 on Rt. 91 (turn left off the exit, the studio is on the right just after the Shell station). There will be West Coast Swing and Country Western Two-Step lessons with both beginner and intermediate level classes:

7 pm - Two-Step: intermediate with William Duffy and beginner with Marilyn Woodman
8 pm - West Coast Swing: intermediate with Beth Duryea and William Duffy
9 pm - West Coast Swing Dance, with a little Two-step and Hustle thrown in.

TUESDAY

CD Dance in Arlington, MA!

There is west coast swing dancing every Tuesday in Arlington. This Tuesday Robert Cordoba will be teaching the 7pm class. Joe, Yuna & Kathy will be teaching the 8:15pm class. Jon & Laura will be teaching the beginner series upstairs starting at 7pm. Follower Footwork 1/2 hour Drilling Session this Tuesday at 6:30pm with Yuna! Spinning exercises and more! Intended for followers, but leaders are welcome to attend and run through the same drills that we are doing for the followers. This Follower class will begin at 6:30 sharp and end at 7. Cost = $5. CD WCS in East Hartford!

There will be a west coast swing lesson and dance every Tuesday at the Circle of Life dance studio and hall at 50 Chapman Place in East Hartford, Connecticut. The schedule each week will be as follows:

  • 7:00 PM -- 9:00 PM Lesson: Fundamentals of West Coast Swing (Jim Gugliemo)- $10

  • 9:00 PM -- Midnight Dance

  • Cost: $5 or free with lesson

CD Dance at Vinnie's in Middletown , CT !

Vinnie’s Jump & Jive holds hold an open swing dance every Tuesday from 8-11pm. This relaxed event is a wonderful time to get out and dance midweek. The fabulous Hot Cat Jazz Band plays each first, third, and 5th (if there is one) Tuesday. The dances are all ages and are included in the price of a class if you are taking a class series.

Come dance at the Northampton Center for the Arts, 17 New South Street, top floor of the Sullivan Building on Wednesday.

A beginning Lindy Hop series will run from 7:30-8:30 pm followed by open dancing to 11. There will also be a newcomer lesson at 8:00 for the uninitiated. CD Blues Barge in Boston!

The Blues Barge -- a floating stage anchored behind the Boston Harbor Hotel -- provides the setting for some of the hottest local and national blues artists. A Blues Barge favorite – Jeff Pitchell will be performing once again along with other artists from last year including Toni Lynn Washington and James Montgomery. The 2008 series, from late June to late August 2008, will include performances every Thursday evening until August 23rd, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

CD Arlington WCS

There will be WCS lessons and a dance every Thursday at 56 Pond Lane, Arlington, MA. There will be a beginner's class at 6:45 pm with Jon Schimmel, intermediate class at 7:30 pm with Anne Fleming, advanced class at 8:15 pm with Anne Fleming, and then dancing from 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm.
